R.I.P. Prince: Remembering the Music Icon's Greatest TV Appearances
The year 2016 is proving to be a tough one for fans of awesome music and the trend-setters that created it. Music icon and entirely unique human being Prince was found dead Thursday morning in his Paisley Park recording studio in Minnesota. TMZ was the first to break the news. A cause of death has not yet been reported, but on April 15, Prince forced an emergency landing of the private plane he was on due to flu-like symptoms. He performed a day later. It is not known if the issue was related to his death. Prince Rogers Nelson is best known for his powerful genre-busting epics, including "I Would Die 4 U," "When Doves Cry," and "1999," and for his film Purple Rain and the soundtrack album and single of the same name. The enigmatic superstar also flirted with television, appearing in The Muppets and, oddly enough, New Girl in 2014. Here's a clip of his appearance, in which Nick and Jess act like anyone of us would act upon seeing Prince. Prince also performed arguably the best Super Bowl halftime show of all time in 2007, playing a medley of hits in the rain as though God approved with tears of joy, and yeah that's a bit dramatic, but it was an astounding sight. But oddly enough, one of the best mentions of Prince on television didn't feature Prince at all. It was a personal anecdote by Charlie Murphy on Chappelle's Show that provided insight into the curious creature Prince was, and revealed to the world that Prince could ball and loved pancakes. And it only made viewers love Prince more. R.I.P., Prince. You will be missed.
